A workshop series for ERP development was conducted at KSEB Pattom in July 2019 and August 2019. About 16 KSEB staff participated in the workshop.As per the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) guidelines, schemes for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and IT enablement of the distribution sector is envisaged to be covered as per the requirement of utility. lt was observed that most of the firms had implemented commercial ERP applications only and their exposure in FOSS based ERP implementation is limited. KSEBL has so far implemented almost all software applications in FOSS (Free and open-source Software) platform, which brings significant cost-benefit.
The workshop was conducted as two parts, where the first part was managed by Jithin Thankachan on Laravel and the second part was managed by Yadu P on Git handling, resource persons from SPACE.
The first part covered the Laravel application development in 2 days. On the first day of the workshop, introduction to Laravel, routing in Laravel and MVC architecture were covered and on the second day, Database and Eloquent ORM, CRUD operations and form handling sections were covered. A sample application was done before the session ends.
The second part of the workshop was a hands-on session that covered Git handling. In this session, Git basics, workflow, installation, merging strategies and conflict resolving were covered.
